M.B.B.S ADMISSION PROCESS (Considering Academic Session 2020-2021)

Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kolkata, is the authority responsible for conducting the West Bengal MBBS admission. The authorities release the application form for West Bengal MBBS admission tentatively in the fourth week of June every year. The West Bengal NEET admission is granted on the basis of scores obtained in NEET. Candidates need to qualify the entrance examination by obtaining the minimum NEET cutoff percentile. For the West Bengal NEET admission, aspirants have to get themselves registered by filling the application form. Candidates will have to participate in a document verification session for counseling of West Bengal NEET, after the completion of registration process. Based on the document verification process authority will release the West Bengal MBBS merit list which is followed by choice filling, seat allotment process. Aspirants need to note that the mode of counseling will be online for both the rounds of counseling for the West Bengal MBBS admission and if required the authority will conduct an extra mop-up round.

West Bengal MBBS Admission Process & Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates are advised to read carefully all the eligibility criteria which are mentioned below and then appear in the NEET Examination. If any candidate will find to be ineligible, their candidature will be cancelled and they will not be allotted the seats.

  • Candidate should belong to Indian national and OCI candidates can also apply.
  • The lower age should be 17 years as on 31st December in the year of admission and the maximum age is 25 years to apply in NEET. 5 years of age relaxation for reserve categories.
  • Candidates should pass the 12th class or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from any recognized board.
  • The candidate should score 50% minimum marks (40% for reserving category candidates) in the qualifying exam.
  • Appearing candidates can also apply.

Selection Procedure:

  • First, candidates have to appear in the NEET entrance exam to get admission. After that the result will be announced along with ranks secured by the candidates.
  • Qualified candidates will be able to participate in the counseling process as per their performance in the entrance exam. During the counseling procedure, candidates will be required to choose the colleges where they are looking for admission.
  • The seats will be allotted to the candidates after document verification. As per the rank obtained, options filled and seat availability, the seats will be allotted to the candidates.
  • After seat allotment procedure, candidates will have to reach the allotted college/university/institution to complete admission formalities.

Steps to fill West Bengal MBBS 2020 application form:

  • Online registrations:Candidates have to get them registered by entering their personal and other requisite NEET details for West Bengal MBBS admission.
  • Payment of counseling fee: Candidates seeking West Bengal MBBS admission 2020 must have to pay the requisite application cum counseling fee.   • Uploading of documents: For West Bengal MBBS 2020 admission, candidates will have to upload the requisite documents.   • Printouts of acknowledgement slip: Aspirants are advised to take printouts of generated acknowledgement slip as it is useful for their future purpose.

Domicile requirements:

For West Bengal MBBS admission 2020, aspirants will have to fulfill one of the following mentioned conditions.

  • Proforma a1 –aspirants must have been living in the state of West Bengal for at least 10 years continuously as on December 31, 2019.
  • Proforma a2 – The candidate has been living in the state of West Bengal for a minimum 10 years continuously as on December 31, 2019 and has passed/is appearing in 10+2 exam in 2020.
  • Proforma b –Medical who is not a resident of the state, but their parent (s) is/are permanent resident of the state with having a permanent resident address in the state for the last 10 years as on December 31, 2019.

Choice filling & locking:

Candidates have to fill their choices of courses and colleges according to their preferences of getting admission in West Bengal MBBS.
