World Health Day 2026

IQ City Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IQIPS), Durgapur, celebrated World Health Day 2026 with great enthusiasm through a two-day program conducted on 14th and 15th May 2026. The celebration was organized with the objective of promoting health awareness, scientific thinking, and community well-being in alignment with the World Health Day theme: “Together for Health. Stand with Science.” The program included:
  • A One-Day Seminar on 14th May 2026 at Amartya Sen Conference Hall, Annexe Building.
  • An Outreach Free Health Camp on 15th May 2026 at Vidyasagar Bhavan, Jemua, Chapadanga, Durgapur.
The events witnessed active participation from faculty members, healthcare professionals, students, and members of the local community   Day 1: One-Day Seminar Date: 14th May 2026 Venue: Amartya Sen Conference Hall, 4th Floor, Annexe Building The seminar commenced at 10:00 AM with the welcoming of guests by the gracious host, Ms. Shagufta Naz, a student of B.Pharm 1st Year, followed by a melodious welcome song presented by Ms. Aishwarya Bhattacharya, B. Pharm 1st Year student. The formal inauguration took place through ceremonial lamp lighting in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and faculty members. The honorary guests were formally felicitated with mementos and tokens of appreciation by the organizers. Dr. Bonagiri Chandra Shekar, Principal of IQIPS, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of evidence-based pharmaceutical practices. Dr. Arindom Banerjee (Principal, Medical College) spoke extensively on aligning public healthcare protocols with reliable scientific standards. Dr. Gunadhar Maity (Vice-Principal, Medical College) shared insights on collaborative health systems. Dr. Raghunath Misra (Medical Superintendent) addressed the crowd on the modern clinical responsibilities of healthcare providers. Technical inputs were shared by Mr. Rupam Mukherjee (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology). Short thematic speeches were given by B. Pharm students across various batches: Ms. Mohini Modak (3rd Year), Mr. Aditya Debnath (2nd Year), Mr. Tuhin Deshmukh, and Mr. Biltu Singha (1st Year). The session closed with a vote of thanks and an official briefing regarding the next day’s community outreach camp requirements by Dr. Suddhasattya Dey (Professor, Dept. of Medicinal Chemistry). Day 2: Outreach Health Camp (15th May 2026) Venue: Vidyasagar Bhavan, Jemua, Chapadanga, Durgapur, West Bengal To translate scientific awareness into societal service, a free multi-facility Outreach Health Camp was organized the following morning in the nearby rural area of Jemua. Key Activities & Highlights:
  • Free Health Checkups: Students and clinical staff proactively set up diagnosis desks to evaluate vital health statistics. Local citizens, including multiple women and children, received blood pressure monitoring, standard health screenings, and fundamental clinical assessments.
  • Distribution of Essential Medicines: Keeping patient requirements in check, necessary basic formulations and vitamins were distributed entirely free of cost to the local attendees.
  • Student-Led Awareness Drive: Moving past basic diagnostics, pharmacy students utilized colourful, hand-crafted posters detailing critical hygiene habits, chronic disease preventative steps, and lifestyle practices.
  • Felicitation of Community Leaders: The camp concluded with an interactive group photography session where localized volunteers, coordinators, and the faculty team were presented with tokens of gratitude for managing the logistics successfully.
The camp received an encouraging response from the local population. Around 50 underprivileged villagers received free health checkup, free medicine and counselling. Students enthusiastically participated in organizing awareness campaigns and assisting healthcare professionals during patient interaction and medicine distribution. The outreach initiative successfully reflected the institute’s commitment towards social responsibility and community healthcare. The two-day celebration of World Health Day 2026 at IQ City Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Durgapur, was conducted successfully with active academic and community participation. The seminar enriched participants with valuable scientific and healthcare knowledge, while the outreach health camp effectively extended healthcare services and awareness to the community.
