
A Report on National Pharmacy Education Day at IQ CITY INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES
March 6th has been formally designated as "National Pharmacy Education Day" by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The eminent Professor M.L. Schroff's birth anniversary is celebrated on this day. He was a trailblazer and visionary who is recognized for having laid the groundwork for pharmaceutical education in India. In 1937, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) launched the first full-fledged three-year Bachelor of Pharmacy program as a result of his commitment, vision, and sense of patriotism. On March 6, 2023, in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, the PCI commemorated Professor Schroff's 121st birthday as "Pharma Anveshan 2023" in recognition of his enormous accomplishments. The PCI has now formally recognized March 6 as an annual day of national celebration, building on this momentum. Under the banner of "Pharma Anveshan 2025," this year's "National Pharmacy Education Day," celebrated on March 6, 2025, focusing on the theme "Entrepreneurship & Startups in Pharma and Pharmacy Practice: Encouraging Innovation, Incubation Centres, and Pharmaceutical Startups."
The faculty, staff and students of IQ City Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IQIPS) celebrated the National Pharmacy Education Day on 6th March, 2025 by organising a short program. The program started with the gathering of all the students, staff and faculty members followed by a beautiful inaugural song presented by Assistant Professor Mr. Bishal Banerjee.
In the first phase of the program Principal Madam Prof. Dr. Shyamshree S.S. Manna address the students and give an insightful talk on the genesis of the Entrepreneurship & Startups in India and also acknowledge some of the renowned Entrepreneurs of India. Students gather knowledge about the Entrepreneurship, incubation centre and startups. In the next phase of the program Mohini Modak, a student of 2nd year, 4th Semester, give her thought on the theme of the program.
The program marked the gracious presence of Prof. Dr. Niloy Sarkar, Dean Academics and his inspiring speech on the theme of the program. The program ended with the insightful talk on the theme and vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Suddhasattya Dey.
